Meet Vincent from Simply Happy Couples

Hi, I’m Vincent, 31 years old, from Berlin, now living in Amsterdam for the past five years. I’m the founder of Simply Happy Couples, and if there’s one thing that defines my path, it’s the following: I’ve turned everything I once longed for into something I can now offer to others.

I grew up in a complex environment. My mother had no stable partner, so she did her best under difficult circumstances to raise me by herself, and while there wasn’t always emotional stability at home, there was one steady source of love in my life, my grandmother.

She was my rock. Thanks to her, I learned what grounded care feels like, even during chaos. As a child, I moved countries more than most people take vacations. By the time I was six, I had lived in the US. At seven, we moved to Spain. At twelve, I found myself in Kenya. And by fourteen, I was back in Berlin, living in a boarding school while my mother remained in Africa. Each move felt like a reset. New languages. New faces. New rules. Nothing felt stable, not even when we were in the same place. But somewhere in all that movement, I became a quiet observer. I learned to read people and to sense the energy in a room before anyone spoke. I saw how deeply we all crave connection. To be heard. To be held. To belong. That early, messy patchwork of experiences did more than shape me. It planted the roots of everything I do today.

Years later, I found myself in a deep, loving five-year relationship. It was a chapter that shaped me in ways no training or book ever could. Although we eventually recognised that we were not the right long-term match, those years were filled with growth, joy, vulnerability, and countless lessons. I learned how powerful it is to truly show up for someone, to navigate discomfort with openness, and to grow along with each other. It taught me more than any book or university ever could and sparked a level of personal growth that simply wouldn’t have been possible without her. For that, and for the time we shared, I remain deeply grateful.

That relationship became a turning point. It taught me about the importance of emotional safety, the kind of presence needed to build trust, and how healing often takes place within connection. These insights now form the foundation of my work. I help people connect with more honesty, love with more intention, and build relationships that feel deeply meaningful and alive.

I hold a Master’s degree in Coaching Psychology from the University of Amsterdam, and I am certified in OMNI hypnotherapy. My work is rooted in science, yet my approach remains deeply human. Drawing from Emotionally Focused Therapy and Imago-based practices, which are rooted in the psychoanalytic framework of psychology, I combine these with the transformative power of hypnotherapy to help couples reconnect from the inside out.
